Silambam-Sydney, a premier institution of performing arts, founded by dancer - choreographer Aruna Gandhi, has been contributing for the last 15 years to the Australian arts sector by spreading the rich cultural heritage of India.

On the occasion of our 10th anniversary in 2019, we presented two major artistic events independently!

October 20th, 2019

Featuring 'Natyamritam', 10th Anniversary celebration & annual showcase by all students of Silambam

Launching our 10th Anniversary on October 20th at UNSW Science Theatre, Silambam-Sydney presented Krishnaarpanam, a spectacular dance production which was a huge success and well received by the Sydney audience! Featuring scenes from 'Krishnam Vande Jagad Gurum', the much acclaimed dance-drama from the early 90's in India, it is a beautiful narrative weaving together the most attractive lilas or playful pastimes from the life of Lord Shri Krishna.

With music direction by Carnatic maestro Vidwan Madurai N. Krishnan and original dance choreography by Padmashri Prof. Sudharani Raghupathy, this production from the 90's has been revived and adapted with revised and new choreography for the dancers of Silambam-Sydney by Artistic-Director Aruna Gandhi (a senior disciple of Prof. Sudharani Raghupathy). 'Krishnaarpanam' featured around 20 talented dancers from our institution, who came alive in various character roles, with stunning colourful costumes, alongwith aesthetic lighting and stage decor at one of Sydney's premier venues - UNSW Science Theatre!

'Natyamritam' is our annual dance concert, where all the student groups progressing through various levels of training showcase their learning in short and crisp performances.
